Brick NJ

Brick NJ Brief History:
For most of it’s early history, Brick NJ was a fishing and agricultural center. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the New Jersey Shore was being developed as a resort area. Because of this, the main economy shifted from agriculture to commercial activities associated with seasonal resorts.

In the 1950’s, there was a large trend of suburbanization as droves of people left large cities in favor of more rural areas. The opening of the Garden State Parkway in 1954 made it possible to live somewhat inexpensively in an undeveloped region, but still commute to work in New York City.
